The opening keynote address will be given by Paul Rabinow, Professor of Anthropology at the University of California at Berkeley.

The first day of the conference will focus on the following areas:

Tuesday 28th October

Professor Bartha Maria Knoppers, Canada Research Chair in Law and Medicine, Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Montreal, will open the second day of the conference.

A key focus of this two-day event will be on the impact of regulation on innovation in the life sciences. Leading researchers and commentators will debate the future of global industries while a panel of experts drawn from academia, policy and practice communities will discuss the future directions of genomics research and its likely impact on international societies in the developed and developing world.

Key areas to be explored during policy debates:
  • Stem cell therapies: Regulating the future
  • Innovative Europe

Dr Iain Gillespie, Head of Biotechnology, OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) will give the closing keynote address.
